Intelligent medical assistant – AI-based inhalers

Artificial Intelligence

Oct 2020,

We created a system that improves usability of medical inhalers with the help of AI. It evaluates how well patients are using the inhaler and guides them through the process to ensure better use of the device for increased safety of patients relying on medical inhalers.

The
Challenge

Medical treatments can contain the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art substances. They will never cure the patient, as long as the patient doesn’t apply the treatment properly. For this project, we improved the process of using an inhaler with the latest technologies.

The
Solution

The outcome of this project was to an AI-based app that would be able to judge how well a patient was using a medical inhaler. Several steps were monitored to give a score on the patient’s performance, including removing the cap, shaking the inhaler, exhaling, pressing the inhaler, inhaling, and holding breath.

The
Impact

Improved usability of medical inhalers with the help of AI. It evaluates how well patients are using the inhaler and guides them through the process to ensure better use of the device for increased safety of patients relying on medical inhalers.
